District 200 will begin accepting applications for its 2012-2013 preschool program this month. In addition to the long-standing grant funded preschool program that is open to 3-5 year olds who qualify through a pre-screening process, two other program options will be available to interested parents.January 11, 2012

Lights! Camera! AUCTION! That again is the call from the District 200 Education Foundation for people to attend their 2012 fund raiser banquet. The group annually provides funds in the way of mini-grants to teachers in the Woodstock school district to fund projects to benefit students. The Foundation’s annual fund raiser will be held this year on Sat., Feb. 4 at D’Andrea Banquets in Crystal Lake.January 6, 2012
Parents of children who will be entering kindergarten in District 200 next fall must register them for school on Feb. 6, 7 or 9. Four informational meetings have been scheduled for those days to inform parents about the program options available for their children and to accept the required registration materials.January 3, 2012
District 200 is looking for volunteers from the community to read to Pre-K through 8th grade students during its 21st annual Love to Read Week. The purpose of the program, which is held every year to coincide with Valentine’s Day, is to show students the importance of reading as a lifelong skill by having adults share how they enjoy and use reading in their daily lives.December 13, 2011
Once again the Westwood students and families have shown their true Holiday spirit of giving. The Westwood Food Train left our school this week with it's train cars filled to overflowing with canned goods and all kinds of non-perishable food items.November 18, 2011
Principal Ross proved that he is willing to do what it takes to motivate and reward Westwood's students for a job well done. In a PTO-sponsored reading challenge fundraiser, Mr. Ross pledged that if the challenge was met he would do something special for the students. After taking suggestions from the students themselves, Principal Ross promised that he would dress up in costume for one hour for every $1000 raised, and read to each classroom in the building.November 16, 2011
The District 200 Board of Education has approved the calendars for the next two school years. The calendars mirror those of the previous two years in which students started class in mid-August and the first semester ended at Winter Break.November 14, 2011
The McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH) has reported an increasing number of cases of pertussis (whooping cough) in McHenry County. A few cases have occurred in District 200 schools.June 17, 2010
