Band students entering 6th and 7th grades will be provided again with a summer band camp in Woodstock. The camp will be held at Emricson Park from July 9th-13th, from 10am to 1pm, concluding with a concert on Friday, July 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the Woodstock Square. The concert will be the culmination of the week of practice and fun. The camp is run by the District 200 Band Directors.May 2, 2012
We are proud to announce that Westwood Elementary Schoolis one of the winners for the “Erase the Waste” Earth Day competition. Behr Iron & Metal recycling facility in Woodstock challenged area schools to bring in the most aluminum cans during the month of April to help promote recycling.May 2, 2012
For even the most successful students, the long summer break can lead to a drop in the level of skills in core areas like reading and math. For students who are already struggling, the problems with skill retention are even greater. This summer District 200 will offer a new “Virtual Summer School” program to help students retain the level of proficiency achieved during the previous school year.February 22, 2012

Principal Ross proved that he is willing to do what it takes to motivate and reward Westwood's students for a job well done. In a PTO-sponsored reading challenge fundraiser, Mr. Ross pledged that if the challenge was met he would do something special for the students. After taking suggestions from the students themselves, Principal Ross promised that he would dress up in costume for one hour for every $1000 raised, and read to each classroom in the building.District Art Show at Woodstock Public Library
